Song of the South

“Song of the South wasn't banned, Disney has just chosen to never re-release it. The problem is it had very problematic racial overtones. Though officially the Black characters are not enslaved but post-emancipation free farm workers, they still come across as being enslaved.”

not much has changed…ol Walt had some opinions about certain folks, but no one wants to talk about that. maybe that’s the problem…no one wants to talk about the real politics.

i loved this soundtrack, never got to see the movie...got to see Bambi, The Rescuers with Grand MaMa...but she loved music and song! The closest person in my life to her when it comes to singing is Kate...it makes them happy, well, i think singing always makes us happy, but those two do/did it like birds, naturally. Moonlight sonata, this soundtrack and i must remeber a few others Mary Anna Heeb played on that enormous wooden phonograph thing...it was huge. Lake Wappapello, Missouri. I had so much fun there, the memories are coming back.

i learned to fish there, i went to the little store/bar and played "bowling" for a nickel. i got to shoot off my first fireworks, i learned what a burn barrel was for. found native american artifacts. i got shocked there from the old 110v outlet. there were a couple of bad and scary times but mostly i caught crappie, sunfish, bass, and used stinkbait for catfish. had to buy that at the marina. The Crumpeckers were our neighbor friends. that is when i had a Dad. well, there you have it, i said and remembered something my Dad did for me that i am grateful for. Steve Largent had a superfast bass boat...haven't thought of that since i stumbled across that little bunny at the blackberry patch! better put my walking shoes on, Toby needs his exercise and i just love walking with him.
